Love Letters – Lisa Crawford
Lisa Crawford is the fourth in our Love Letters Campaign.
Lisa’s brother Mark was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was 5. He passed away when he was 7 – there was just eighteen months between them.
Lisa is part of the research team funded by Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI, based at the QUB Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology. Her role to better understand blood cancers and develop more effective ways of treating them is very personal to her.
Every month in Northern Ireland 99 people are diagnosed with blood cancer. Thanks to scientists based right here in Belfast, funded by Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI, three out of four people in Northern Ireland diagnosed with blood cancer survive.
But for that one in four, just like Mark, there’s still work to be done.
We are hopeful that with your help, our researchers will one day find a cure for blood cancer.
