Proactive Fund
This fund is offered in order to attract project ideas within a particular disease type or with a specific research focus.
This will allow LLNI to invest in projects with a personal connection to those with lived experience; or to invest in areas of need identified by our board or wider organisation.
This fund is open to researchers in any academic institution in Northern Ireland or any clinical researcher within the HSC in Northern Ireland.
LLNI are currently inviting proposals for blood cancer research which collects patient data or samples to develop a greater understanding of the causes of blood cancers or the effectiveness of treatments.
Funding award: Up to £110,000. Proposals for part funding will be considered, as long as match funding has already been secured.
- Review and submit the Guidelines & Triage Application Form.
- Two deadlines per year – 17th August 2026 (Extended from original deadline of 10th August) & 6th November 2026.
- Triage assessed by Scientific & Medical Advisory Committee.
- Shortlisted proposals offered 4 weeks to submit full application.
- 2 external assessments: Peer Review & SMAC Meeting
- Application assessed by Board of Trustees.
- Applicants advised of decision within 3 months of full proposal deadline.
