LLNI is delighted to announce that award-winning BBC Radio Ulster presenter Anne Marie McAleese will be taking on the role of ambassador for the charity.

Anne Marie is a well-known local face, having spent 35 years within the BBC, presenting a variety of programmes based on local people and local life in NI, including her longstanding broadcast Your Place And Mine, which first aired in September 1991 and with the final edition on BBC Radio Ulster on Saturday 15 February 2025.

The broadcaster also worked on BBC Northern Ireland television as a sports reporter for a time during the 1990s and took part in many BBC Children in Need television broadcasts from Northern Ireland.

“Your Place and Mine has been the joy of my life – all the people I’ve met and the far flung places in every county in the country that I’ve been to. I feel privileged to have visited so many parts of Northern Ireland and to have learnt so much about the things that really matter in life, especially the value of a shared sense of community and a pride in our place. Now, it’s time for a new chapter in my life.”

Speaking on this new role, Anne Marie said :

“I am honoured to be associated with this incredible charity. The work they have done in the last 60 years is truly remarkable. LLNI is the only charity in Northern Ireland dedicated to funding ongoing and vital research which helps to improve survival rates and outcomes for blood cancer patients.’

A special birthday alongside retirement

To celebrate her upcoming 60th birthday and retirement, Anne Marie has very generously offered to run a fundraising campaign for LLNI to encourage donations in lieu of birthday and retirement gifts.
